at the point where, you cant stop thinking about the drugs. the point were you would rather steal and lie off you own family and loved ones than go without the drugs. The point where you no longer want to get down from this high, the point where you would do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING to avoid a comedown back into reality. I guess the point where drug abuse rules your life is the day you relies you cant live without the rush.

Drug abuse begins when one starts to lose control of the usage amount and it becomes a priority in your thinking patterns. Drug abuse has begun when it causes one to change their static behaviors or interferes with daily activities or responsibilities such as employment. When a drug becomes more important that other things that you used to hold in high regards it has begun to dominate your life and is abuse.
When it interferes with your morals and character, when you start losing who you are ans hurting people.

It rules your life once when you become an addict, after about 3 times and you keep doing it, it affects you lungs after the first time.
I guess, whenever you let it that far into your life, it can control you unless you let it get to that point.
First of all, use and abuse are two different things. Some people use drugs to expand their consciousness and try to learn something deeper about themselves. Other drugs are used recreationally to wind down (I would include alcohol in this). It only becomes abuse (and therefore a problem) when a person feels they -cannot live- without those things. Or the abuse drugs to escape from their problems so regularly that the problems are never resolved.

Drug abuse rules your life as soon as it becomes a habit. If it becomes a habit, you are doing it regularly, which means that you will always work towards the drugs.
the moment you know that you cant go without it. it becomes a routine, a must have in your life. at this point i believe it rules your life
You may not notice drug abuse becoming an issue as it can tend to sneak up on you! But it also depends on the kind of drugs you are taking, for example, heavier drugs take more of a toll and an addiction can be when you need it to get through a day or if its taking a large percentage of your income, its most likely an issue!
Drug abuse rules our life when it consumes almost every aspect of your life. It overtakes your thoughts, actions, and social life. You crave it, can't live without it, and don't care what you have to do to get it.

When that is all you can do or think about. When you feel like you cant go a day without drugs. When it starts to ruin friendships and relationships. I have struggled before with this topic and when you finally realize that it is taking over, that is usually when you want to do something about it, but it took me a lot longer to get over it than just realizing it. It took until i hit rock bottom and that is when I decided to get over the fact that i don't need drugs to do things or to survive.
