The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in New Berlin, WI, is dedicated to cultivating future leaders who advocate for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Through a comprehensive, hands-on program, selected Fellows engage in organic food system education at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, without any tuition fees, ensuring accessibility for all participants. This fellowship provides valuable opportunities to work on diverse initiatives, including growing and distributing crops on a market-style farm, conducting innovative health care educational sessions, and maintaining school and community gardens. Fellows learn to integrate food and ecological literacy into school activities, support local farmers markets, and develop effective distribution channels for healthy foods. After an immersive six-month experience, participants enter a Community Action Year, applying their training in collaboration with non-profit organizations throughout the region, significantly impacting local food access and community health.
