Karen Macarthur is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker specializing in trauma recovery, attachment difficulties, anxiety, depression, behavioral challenges, and low self-esteem in children and families. With a compassionate and non-judgmental approach, she is dedicated to addressing each child's and family's unique needs. Given the overwhelming experience of parenting children with emotional or behavioral challenges, Karen brings understanding and support to families managing life's many demands. She is well-trained in diverse therapeutic techniques, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Theraplay focused activities (Level 1 trained), and basic Sand Tray techniques. Karen holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from New Mexico Highlands University and has dedicated her career to assisting children, adolescents, and their parents in both outpatient and school-based settings. Her passion lies in fostering strong, healthy attachments and connections to others, empowering families on their journey toward healing and growth.
