Ben Lucal is a dedicated counselor who finds it a privilege to witness and collaborate with his clients as they experiment and explore new behaviors. Known for his warm style and occasional humor, Ben understands the courage it takes to engage in conversations about change. His areas of expertise include cultivating satisfying relationships, navigating life transitions, and addressing complex topics such as anti-oppression, stress, anger, grief, sexual and gender identity, polyamory, wealth and identity, shame, and integrity. Additionally, Ben offers counseling and consultation for individuals recovering from experiences of undue influence, coercion, and exploitation, including those related to con-artists and groups with cult-like features. With an MA in Psychology from LIOS at Saybrook University, where he specialized in counseling, and a BA in liberal arts from the Evergreen State College focusing on social psychology and justice, Ben began his private practice journey in 2016 at the Rainbow Health Center in Olympia, WA, under Dr. Matt Goldenberg's supervision. His extensive background includes community mental health and in-school counseling, allowing him to bring a well-rounded perspective to individual therapy.
