Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

Allegheny Mountain Institute (AMI)
Arlington, WA US
Based in Arlington, WA, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship empowers individuals to become passionate advocates for a just food system through hands-on education and community engagement. Our program offers a unique opportunity for selected Fellows to immerse themselves in organic food system education and practical experiences at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, all without any tuition costs to ensure accessibility. Over a transformative six-month period, Fellows gain vital skills in growing and distributing diverse crops, maintaining community and school gardens, and integrating food and ecological literacy into educational programs. They also work to enhance local farmer's markets, develop channels for increased access to healthy foods, and actively support community food coalition initiatives. Following their fellowship, participants engage in a Community Action Year, partnering with regional non-profits to apply their training, thus making a real impact on food systems in their communities. Applications are welcome until March each year for the fellowship that runs from May to October, and we invite those dedicated to fostering social, environmental, and economic justice within food systems to join us.
