Dawna Farrar Thompson, PhD, is a highly skilled psychologist with extensive training and experience in the psycho-educational assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and adults. Her previous role as Director of GMU's Cognitive Assessment Program, paired with her experience within the school system, equips her with unique insights into various educational programs, including special education and the Advanced Academics Program (AAP). Dawna is dedicated to providing comprehensive evaluations that illuminate the learning strengths and needs of her clients. She specializes in the assessment of learning disorders (LD), ADHD, and other developmental concerns, ensuring a tailored approach to each individual’s needs. Additionally, she offers individual therapy informed by evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). Currently, she provides therapy services exclusively in a virtual format (Telehealth), while delivering her comprehensive testing and evaluation services in person.
