Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC)

The Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC) in Weslaco, TX, is dedicated to enhancing the health and nutrition of pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, as well as infants and children up to five years old, particularly those at risk for nutrition-related issues. Our mission revolves around empowering families through comprehensive nutrition education tailored for mothers and caregivers, fostering healthy eating habits, and supporting optimal growth. WIC provides essential services, including personalized nutrition counseling, engaging classes for both parents and children, and robust breastfeeding support, offering resources such as free breast pumps. Participants receive monthly benefits to purchase nutritious foods like iron-fortified infant formula, fresh fruits, vegetables, and dairy products at local grocery stores. Our program not only assists in meeting nutritional needs but also connects families with essential health and social services. Eligibility extends to pregnant women, new mothers, and guardians of young children, with a focus on those whose household income is at or below 185 percent of the federal poverty level. We invite eligible families to visit us in person to begin their journey towards a healthier future.
