Farmers Assisting Returning Military (F.A.R.M.)

Farmers Assisting Returning Military (F.A.R.M.) is dedicated to supporting veterans in Weatherford, TX, through meaningful agricultural experiences. Founded by two Iraq War veterans who discovered healing through farming, our organization fosters camaraderie and connection among veterans facing challenges like homelessness, suicidal thoughts, and substance dependency. We offer veterans the opportunity to work on our farms, cultivating crops and caring for animals while gaining valuable skills in a supportive, peer-to-peer environment. Our Future Farmer Trainees can benefit from internships with stipends of $500 to $1,000 monthly for up to six months, along with shared housing opportunities as they gain hands-on experience in agriculture. We also provide mentorship for ongoing success and employability at our urban farm or with partner farms. While we cannot assist with detox services, we help veterans access treatment through the VA for substance dependency. Participants receive certifications upon program completion, valuable resources like The Organic Farmer's Business Handbook, and the chance to build a fulfilling future in farming. All veterans are welcome to join our events and services, regardless of military discharge status.
