Maritza Mata

Maritza Mata is a dedicated advocate for working with all marginalized populations. As a minority, she possesses deep empathy for experiences related to micro-aggressions, discrimination, intergenerational trauma, and other forms of oppression. Maritza finds fulfillment in assisting clients who recognize a need for change and welcomes the challenge of working towards goals that may initially seem unclear. She firmly believes that everyone is the expert of their own lives, capable of identifying the struggles they have faced. Operating from a Person-Centered approach, she trusts that the individuals who seek her guidance are capable of self-directed growth. With empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity, Maritza fosters an environment where clients can enhance their self-worth, develop trust in themselves, and embrace the exploration of life. Understanding that therapy may present unique challenges for each person, Maritza draws from her own experiences as a recipient of therapy to create a comforting atmosphere that allows individuals the safe space necessary to heal from trauma.
