Farmers Assisting Returning Military (F.A.R.M.) is dedicated to supporting veterans in Rowlett, TX, through hands-on agricultural experiences that foster healing, purpose, and camaraderie. Founded by two Iraq War veterans, F.A.R.M. provides a nurturing environment where veterans can reconnect with one another and the land by cultivating crops and caring for farm animals. This program is especially beneficial for veterans facing challenges such as suicidal thoughts, homelessness, and substance dependency. In a peer-to-peer setting, participants are trained in farming skills while exploring potential career paths within agriculture. Though the internship program is currently closed as we expand our facilities, we encourage all veterans to reach out for updates on future opportunities. We welcome all who have served, regardless of discharge status, to participate in our events and services. Our commitment includes offering mentorship and resources to help veterans overcome chemical dependency and gain valuable farming experience, which is essential for pursuing future agricultural loans. Each successful participant will receive certificates and resources to aid their journey towards becoming skilled farmers, while shared housing options may be available during the internship. Join us to cultivate not just crops, but also a renewed sense of community and purpose.
