Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC)

The Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC) in Port Arthur, TX, is dedicated to enhancing the health and nutrition of women, infants, and children who are at risk for nutrition-related issues. Our mission centers on empowering mothers with education about proper nutrition, ensuring that they have access to essential resources for healthy growth and development. WIC offers comprehensive services including personalized nutrition counseling, engaging classes targeted for families, and robust breastfeeding support, including free breast pumps to encourage breastfeeding practices. Each month, eligible clients receive benefits to purchase nutritious foods such as iron-fortified infant formula, fresh fruits and vegetables, milk, and more, tailored to meet diverse needs. Our program welcomes pregnant women, new mothers within six months postpartum, and guardians of children under five to apply, focusing on those whose household income falls below 185 percent of the federal poverty level. By providing crucial referrals to health and social services, WIC strives to create a supportive network that fosters healthier families in our community. Although clients must come in person to apply, we encourage interested individuals to reach out and make an appointment to start their journey towards better nutrition.
