The YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program (YDPP) in North Richland Hills, TX, is dedicated to empowering individuals at high risk for type 2 diabetes to make sustainable lifestyle changes and significantly reduce their diabetes risk. Grounded in the proven methods of the landmark Diabetes Prevention Program, YDPP encourages participants to adopt healthier eating habits, engage in regular physical activity, and achieve modest weight loss, which collectively can lower the likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes by 58 percent. Our comprehensive offerings include vital health and diabetes education, alongside exercise and fitness programs tailored to enhance well-being. Individuals aged 18 and older who are overweight (with a BMI of 25 or greater) and diagnosed with prediabetes qualify for enrollment. We also welcome those with qualifying risk scores to join our efforts. Please note that those diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes are not eligible for this program.
