Farmers Assisting Returning Military (F.A.R.M.) in Mansfield, TX, is dedicated to empowering veterans through agriculture, fostering a supportive environment where camaraderie and personal growth flourish. Founded by two Iraq War veterans, F.A.R.M. offers veterans a chance to reconnect with the land and their fellow service members while addressing challenges such as suicidal thoughts, homelessness, and chemical dependency. Participants engage in hands-on farming activities, caring for a variety of animals and crops, promoting both mental well-being and practical skills. The organization provides a peer-led training program where veterans can become farmers, gain invaluable experience, and even earn stipends of $500 to $1,000 monthly during their internships. While the application period for new interns is currently on hold as we expand our operations, veterans are encouraged to reach out for information on future opportunities. Military discharge status does not hinder participation in our services, which include job placement support at our farms or partner locations. We also assist in connecting veterans with treatment resources for substance dependency. Upon completion of our programs, participants receive certification that counts toward farming loan qualifications and have the chance to secure positions as trainers or further their education within the agricultural field. At F.A.R.M., we believe in helping veterans find new purpose through the rewarding world of farming.
