Farmers Assisting Returning Military (F.A.R.M.) in Lewisville, TX, is dedicated to helping veterans rediscover purpose through agriculture. Founded by two Iraq War veterans, our organization recognizes the therapeutic power of farming and the deep camaraderie formed on the land. We provide a supportive environment for any veteran facing challenges such as suicidal thoughts, homelessness, or substance dependency. At our multiple farm locations, veterans engage in meaningful work, tending to crops and animals, while learning valuable skills in a peer-to-peer setting. Our Future Farmer Trainee program offers financial support, mentorship, and the opportunity for hands-on experience, including internship placements that may provide stipends of $500 to $1,000 monthly. Although our internship enrollments are currently on hold as we expand our farm sites, we encourage veterans to reach out for future opportunities and support. Our focus is on fostering connections and offering resources for veterans to achieve healing and growth, all while gaining essential agricultural skills that can lead to permanent employment in farming. Participants receive certificates to bolster their farming credentials and access to educational materials to aid in successful careers in agriculture. Military discharge status does not hinder participation, and we are committed to assisting veterans in their journey to recovery and reintegration into civilian life through agriculture.
