The Cancer Prevention Program of the City of Laredo Health Department is dedicated to enhancing access to essential cancer screenings, including breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer. By fostering collaboration between public and private sectors, this program effectively minimizes barriers to care and integrates cancer prevention services across the community. In partnership with local non-profits, healthcare providers, educational institutions, and faith-based organizations, we strive to provide critical cancer information and identify individuals at risk for screenings. Our comprehensive services include early colorectal screening through immunoassay fecal occult blood tests, pelvic exams and PAP smears for cervical cancer, breast exams for early detection, and access to the HPV vaccine to help prevent cervical cancer. Once a screening is completed, our dedicated team ensures ongoing support through case management, education, and coordination of necessary diagnostic tests, including mammograms for women over 40 and colonoscopies for individuals over 50. Residents of Webb, Jim Hogg, Zapata, or Duval counties are encouraged to take advantage of these vital services through the City of Laredo Health Department.
