The Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC) in Harlingen, TX, is dedicated to enhancing the health and nutrition of pregnant women, new mothers, infants, and young children at risk of nutrition-related health issues. Our mission centers on empowering families through comprehensive education on proper nutrition and healthy eating practices. WIC provides personalized nutrition counseling, informative classes—including those designed for children—and essential breastfeeding support, which may include complimentary breast pumps. Each month, participants receive benefits to purchase nutritious foods, such as iron-fortified infant formula, fresh fruits and vegetables, and dairy products, tailored to meet individual needs. We also facilitate referrals to various health and social services, ensuring families receive comprehensive support. Eligible individuals include pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers of infants under one year, recent mothers, and guardians of children under five, with a focus on those whose household incomes fall below 185 percent of the federal poverty level. Even those with employment or private health insurance may qualify. Clients must apply in person, and we encourage you to reach out to our office to schedule an appointment to learn more about how WIC can assist your family.
