Farmers Assisting Returning Military (F.A.R.M.) is dedicated to empowering veterans in Granbury, TX, through agriculture and community connection. Founded by two Iraq War veterans who experienced the healing power of working the land, F.A.R.M. offers a supportive peer-to-peer environment that helps veterans navigate challenges such as suicidal ideations, homelessness, and chemical dependency. Participants are invited to engage with the land, tending to crops and livestock while fostering camaraderie with fellow veterans. The program provides training opportunities, including an internship for those interested in pursuing a career in agriculture, with stipends of $500 to $1,000 monthly for up to six months, as well as shared housing options. Although our internship applications are currently closed as we build new farm locations, we encourage veterans to reach out for program updates. Regardless of discharge status, all veterans can join our events and contribute on workdays, and will receive mentorship throughout their journey. Upon completion, participants earn a certificate recognizing their farm experience, positioning them for future opportunities in farming, supported by resources like The Organic Farmer's Business Handbook. At F.A.R.M., we are committed to providing veterans with purpose and a path forward through agriculture.
