Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC)

The Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC) in El Paso, TX, is dedicated to enhancing the health and nutrition of infants, children, and pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women who are vulnerable to nutrition-related challenges. Our mission revolves around empowering mothers with essential nutrition education tailored for infants and young children, fostering healthy dietary choices that can last a lifetime. Participants in the WIC program benefit from personalized nutrition counseling, engaging nutrition classes, and breastfeeding support, including access to breast pumps at no cost. We provide monthly benefits to purchase nutritious foods such as iron-fortified infant formula, essential cereals, fruit and vegetable juices, dairy products, beans, and peanut butter, ensuring families have access to healthy options. Additionally, WIC offers referrals to various health and social services, enhancing support for our clients. Eligibility is based on household income at or below 185 percent of the federal poverty level, nutritional risk assessment, and Texas residency. Even if you’re employed or have private health insurance, you can still apply for WIC.
