Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC)

The Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC) in Desoto, TX, is dedicated to enhancing the health and nutrition of pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, as well as infants and children under five who are at risk for nutrition-related health issues. Our mission focuses on empowering mothers through tailored nutrition education, offering both individualized counseling and engaging classes that often include family members. We provide essential support for breastfeeding mothers, including instruction on breastfeeding practices and, in many cases, complimentary breast pumps. Monthly benefits are available to purchase nutritious foods such as iron-fortified infant formula, vitamin-rich fruits and vegetables, dairy products, and more, tailored to each family's needs. WIC also connects clients to vital health and social services to ensure comprehensive support. Eligible individuals include pregnant women, new mothers, and guardians of young children, with assistance available to those meeting income guidelines. Clients are encouraged to apply in person and can do so by scheduling an appointment to begin their journey towards better nutrition and health.
