Zandra Ellis

Zandra Ellis, a dedicated Drug & Alcohol Counselor with a Master’s degree and multiple certifications (LCDC, MAC), is passionate about empowering individuals and couples seeking to overcome personal challenges such as trauma, suicidal ideation, and substance use. Recently relocating to Portland, OR, Zandra founded Rise Above, a private practice and peer support group that operates on the core belief that sobriety is an exhilarating journey, not a dull existence. Drawing inspiration from the famed Black Flag song of the same name, Rise Above encourages individuals to break free from their dependencies and take control of their lives with the fierce determination and rebellious spirit inherent in everyone. Zandra employs an eclectic mix of therapeutic techniques, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and narrative therapy, to effectively address triggers and cravings, while fostering new, sobriety-centered experiences that lead to sustainable recovery. She also provides Moderation Management, recovery coaching, and various harm reduction strategies, ensuring that every client feels understood and supported at their unique stage of the recovery process. With a strong belief in the power of creativity, Zandra helps clients explore innovative ways to engage with the art and music scene, promoting enjoyable experiences that don’t rely on substances. She avows that everyone possesses the potential to express their unique and authentic selves, no matter the circumstances.
