The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Beaumont, TX, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates and educators who will champion a food system that is socially, environmentally, and economically just. Through immersive, hands-on training at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, our Fellows engage in organic food system education without any tuition fees, ensuring accessibility for all. Participants spend six months on the farm, gaining valuable experience in growing and distributing diversified crops, implementing educational health initiatives, maintaining community gardens, and promoting food and ecological literacy in schools. Additionally, they support farmers' markets, direct-to-consumer programs, and collaborate with local non-profits during their Community Action Year to increase access to healthy foods and empower community food coalitions. Applications are accepted until March for the program running from May to October, focusing on fostering inclusive and sustainable food practices.
