Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC)

The Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC) in Amarillo, TX, is dedicated to enhancing the health and nutrition of pregnant women, new mothers, and young children at risk for nutrition-related issues. Our mission centers on empowering families through education on proper nutrition for infants and toddlers, providing individualized nutrition counseling, and offering valuable nutrition classes designed for all family members. WIC supports breastfeeding through professional guidance, resources, and even complimentary breast pumps to ensure mothers have the tools they need for successful breastfeeding. Participants benefit from monthly vouchers to purchase nutritious foods, including iron-fortified infant formula, fresh fruits, vegetables, and other essential items geared towards fostering healthy growth and development. We also connect clients with additional health and social services to further support their needs. WIC services are accessible to pregnant women, those who recently gave birth, and parents or guardians of children under five, provided they meet certain income and nutritional risk criteria. To become part of this vital program, individuals must apply in person; we welcome all eligible families to take this step towards better health and nutrition.
