The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Supplemental Food Program in Knoxville, TN, is dedicated to advancing the nutritional health of low-income pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, along with their infants and children up to five years old. We provide essential services that include nutrition education, access to supplemental foods, breastfeeding support, and referrals for health care, all tailored to elevate family well-being. Our program actively participates in the WIC Farmer's Market Nutrition Program, ensuring that eligible families can access fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables across several counties, including Coffee, Hickman, Knox, Lincoln, Madison, Maury, Moore, Rutherford, and Sullivan. In light of COVID-19, we are adapting by offering services via phone to maintain safety and access, while also expanding the variety of food choices available to our participants. WIC stands as a vital resource in fostering healthy habits for mothers and children, making a lasting impact on the community.
