Williamsport, PA US
Located in Williamsport, PA, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, facilitated by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, empowers aspiring leaders to champion a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Through this tuition-free program, selected Fellows engage in hands-on training at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, where they learn about organic food systems and sustainability. Over six months, participants cultivate diversified crops, implement innovative health education, maintain community gardens, and promote food and ecological literacy in local schools. Additionally, Fellows support farmers markets, develop distribution networks for healthy food access, and contribute to community food coalitions. By the end of their journey, fellows will apply their expertise during a Community Action Year in collaboration with regional non-profit organizations to make a meaningful impact in their communities. Applications are accepted until March, with the fellowship running from May to October.
