The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Wilkes Barre, PA, is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of advocates and educators committed to transforming our food systems into equitable, environmentally sustainable, and economically viable models. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this immersive fellowship offers hands-on training in organic food systems without charging tuition, ensuring accessibility for all participants. Over six months, selected Fellows engage in on-site education at the Allegheny Farm Campus, where they learn to grow diverse crops, support community gardens, and promote health-centric educational initiatives. Following this experience, they embark on a Community Action Year where they collaborate with local non-profit organizations to implement their skills, fostering greater access to healthy foods and strengthening community food networks. Applications are welcomed until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October, embodying our commitment to empowering change through innovative food systems education.
