The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, located in Waynesboro, PA, empowers passionate individuals to advocate for a food system that is fair and sustainable. Our program offers an immersive six-month experience at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, focusing on organic food system education and community engagement. Participants, known as Fellows, receive comprehensive training without tuition fees, ensuring accessibility for all. Throughout their fellowship, they actively contribute by growing and distributing diversified crops, implementing innovative educational sessions, maintaining community gardens, and promoting food and ecological literacy in schools. Fellows also support farmers markets and direct-to-consumer programs, develop distribution channels to enhance access to healthy foods, and engage in community food coalition initiatives. The fellowship culminates in a Community Action Year where Fellows apply their skills in partnership with local non-profit organizations, making a lasting impact on food equity in the region. Applications are open until March, with the fellowship experience running from May to October each year.
