Joanne Perilstein

Dr. Joanne Perilstein is a compassionate psychologist dedicated to creating a therapeutic environment that prioritizes the needs and comfort of her clients. She understands that treatment structures vary, with some individuals benefiting from short-term therapy while others may require a longer commitment. Specializing in issues related to depression, trauma, PTSD, and anxiety, she carefully listens to her clients' stories to collaboratively create effective plans for relief. With a straightforward, common-sense approach infused with empathy and humor, Dr. Perilstein fosters a team dynamic that promotes healing in a safe space. Her extensive education began at 16, leading her to develop a keen ability to connect with people on personal matters. Complementing her intuition with rigorous training, she earned her PhD and further honed her skills through a post-doctoral fellowship at Penn, where she deepened her expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). While her primary orientation is cognitive behavioral, she has explored various modalities, including psychodynamic therapy, meditation, relaxation and stress reduction techniques, coaching, and positive psychology. Dr. Perilstein is committed to helping her clients integrate their talents, values, and strengths, ultimately maximizing their sense of meaningfulness and happiness.
