Dr. Jacqueline Barco is a dedicated counselor with a passion for empowering individuals through increased awareness of the underlying influences of their clinical distress and life challenges. She focuses on personal and social history, relationships, culture, and society to support her clients. An empathic listener, Dr. Barco assists clients in identifying their needs and challenges, as well as what is effective or no longer beneficial for them. She believes in meeting clients where they are and works collaboratively to build a safe, trusting, and meaningful therapeutic relationship. Her integrative and trauma-informed approach employs diverse methods, including feminist multicultural, client-centered, interpersonal process, motivational interviewing, EMDR, and mindfulness techniques. Her areas of expertise encompass depression, trauma and PTSD, anxiety, substance use disorders, sexual trauma, and historical and cultural trauma, as well as exploring intergenerational trauma and generational status within families of origin. Additionally, she has a keen interest in identity issues, including racial/multiracial/biracial identity, queer/questioning identities, and the marginalization and inclusion of BIPOC individuals.
