The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, located in Meadville, PA, champions a transformative approach to food systems by nurturing the next generation of educators and advocates. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this initiative offers a tuition-free program designed to foster accessibility and empower Fellows to drive social, environmental, and economic justice within their communities. During a six-month immersive experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus, participants receive hands-on training in organic food systems, enabling them to engage in diverse activities such as cultivating crops on a market-style farm, facilitating innovative health education, managing community gardens, and promoting food literacy in schools. Following this foundational training, Fellows contribute their skills during a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to expand access to healthy food options and support local farmers markets. Applications are open until March, with the fellowship experience taking place from May to October.
