The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Kingston, PA, empowers passionate individuals to become effective advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this program is dedicated to teaching the principles of organic agriculture while ensuring accessibility through a tuition-free model. Fellows engage in hands-on learning at the Allegheny Farm, where they cultivate diverse crops, manage school and community gardens, and lead educational initiatives that promote food and ecological literacy. They also collaborate with local partners to enhance farmers markets and develop distribution channels that increase access to healthy food. Over a six-month residential program followed by a Community Action Year, selected Fellows transform their knowledge into impactful community solutions, working closely with regional non-profit organizations to foster a more equitable food landscape.
