Thomas Hurster

Thomas Hurster, a licensed clinical social worker, has dedicated over 40 years to providing exceptional counseling and therapy services to youth and their families. While he also sees adults in psychotherapy, Thomas primarily focuses on children, adolescents, and young adults, addressing a wide array of challenges including anxiety, depression, impulsivity, self-esteem issues, and relational difficulties. He possesses specialized expertise in supporting youth with neuro-diversity and learning disabilities. Thomas leads ongoing mixed-gender therapy groups aimed at high school-aged clients, drawing from his extensive experience in group therapy. He is a Fellow in the American Group Psychotherapy Association and serves as the national co-chair of the AGPA Child and Adolescent Special Interest Group. Additionally, he fulfills the role of clinical supervisor at Benchmark School in Media, PA, and is a valued faculty member at the Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research, where he teaches courses on clinical practice with children and adolescents, group treatment, and the application of social work in educational settings. Furthermore, Thomas is an active participant on the board of the Pennsylvania Association for Graduate Professional Schools.
