The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Altoona, PA, is dedicated to cultivating a just and sustainable food system by empowering individuals as educators and advocates. Through immersive training at the Allegheny Farm Campus, selected Fellows engage in a six-month experiential program specializing in organic food system education and community engagement. This fellowship is tuition-free, ensuring accessibility for all who aspire to drive change in their communities. Participants work alongside local partners to grow and distribute diverse crops on market-style farms, organize innovative health care educational sessions, maintain community and school gardens, and enhance food literacy through hands-on learning. The program also emphasizes supporting local farmers markets and expanding distribution channels for healthy food access. After their training, Fellows continue their impact during a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to implement their skills effectively. Applications for this transformative experience are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October.
