Kevin Goldwater

Kevin Goldwater, Licensed Professional Counselor, MA, LMHC, CCTP, provides attuned and empathic psychotherapy to both individuals and groups. He creates a warm, curious, creative, and sometimes humorous therapeutic environment. Kevin believes that the dynamic between client and therapist represents one of the most valuable assets in therapy. Recognizing that each individual brings their own unique perception of needs and worldview, he places a great emphasis on identity, culture, and environment. This approach allows him to create a space for clients to process personal struggles and to address the external challenges that can compromise their wellbeing. With compassion, energy, and curiosity, Kevin is committed to meeting clients where they are and ensuring they feel safe and seen. He utilizes an integrative framework that incorporates psychodynamic, mindfulness, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) approaches. Kevin works with clients from diverse backgrounds, helping them navigate challenges such as depression, anxiety, complex PTSD, gender dysphoria, substance use, self-harm, and LGBQ and TGNB identities. Additionally, he teaches and trains psychoanalytically at NYU.
