Joan Westreich

Joan Westreich, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and therapist, specializes in addressing feelings of depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem that can diminish life's enjoyment. With a strong foundation in psychodynamic, eclectic, and psychoanalytic therapy, Joan invites individuals, couples, and groups to embark on a collaborative journey aimed at creating the lives they envision. By fostering curiosity rather than judgment, she helps clients uncover the wisdom and strengths they already possess, while thoroughly exploring their current circumstances, the paths that led them there, and their aspirations for the future. Beyond her therapy practice, Joan serves as faculty at the Psychoanalytic Training Institute of New York Counseling (NYCGS), where she teaches and supervises upcoming clinicians. Her extensive post-graduate education includes specialized training in individual, couple, and group psychotherapy, geriatrics, trauma, spirituality, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Committed to serving underserved communities, Joan also works as a consultant and training specialist for non-profits and small businesses, is a pro bono clinician with Healthright International's Human Rights Clinic, and leads support groups for the NYC Alzheimer's Association.
