Chitra Raghavan

Dr. Chitra Raghavan is a highly skilled and licensed clinical psychologist with over a decade of experience. Her practice excels in conducting empirically-informed forensic evaluations and providing training in threat assessment and various forms of interpersonal exploitation and violence victimization. Utilizing an integrative approach, Dr. Raghavan incorporates best practices in current assessment research and employs trauma-informed clinical interviewing techniques. Her expertise encompasses critical issues such as sexual harassment, workplace violence, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and domestic violence, as well as complex topics like domestic homicides and sex and labor trafficking. She specializes in evaluating trauma and PTSD, assessing violence risk, and addressing coercive controlling tactics, dissociation, memory issues, sexual grooming, trauma bonding, and traumatic attachments. With a commitment to multiculturalism, Dr. Raghavan brings a nuanced understanding to each individual's situation and works effectively with both heterosexual and queer populations. Fluent in multiple languages, including Arabic, French, Indonesian, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, and Korean, she utilizes skilled interpreters as needed. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Raghavan serves as a Professor of Psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where she holds various leadership roles, including Deputy Director of the Forensic Mental Health Counseling Program and Coordinator of the Victim Services Track. As a respected author, she has published over 40 articles and two books on related topics, contributing significantly to the fields of psychology and victimology.
