Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Ithaca, NY, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to advocate for a food system rooted in social, environmental, and economic justice. This unique fellowship, offered by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, provides hands-on experience in organic food system education at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, with no tuition fees to ensure accessibility. Over a transformative six-month residency, Fellows engage in experiential learning while working on projects that include growing and distributing diverse crops, conducting educational sessions in innovative healthcare, maintaining school gardens, and fostering food and ecological literacy in educational settings. After their time at the farm, Fellows enter a Community Action Year where they apply their skills in collaboration with regional non-profits, driving initiatives to enhance community food access and support local farmers markets. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October.
