The Learning Center

The Learning Center in Hempstead, NY is dedicated to empowering at-risk and vulnerable adolescents, including runaways, homeless youth, and those from challenging familial backgrounds. Our mission is to equip these young individuals with the essential skills and support needed for successful transitions into adulthood, employment, and higher education. Through our innovative Step Up to Success (SU2S) initiative, we provide tailored workshops that cover crucial topics such as health and nutrition, job-seeking strategies, and writing compelling college application essays. Our programs foster connections between participants and caring mentors, offering guidance and encouragement as they navigate life's obstacles. With a focus on addressing critical issues that young people face, including teen pregnancy and gang involvement, The Learning Center opens its doors weekdays and offers a range of enriching workshops, ensuring a safe and supportive environment during the dangerous after-school hours. Together, we are committed to helping our youth become capable, resilient adults who can thrive in their futures.
