At the Montefiore Medical Center’s Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program in the Bronx, NY, we are dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of low-income women, infants, and children up to age five who face nutritional risks. Our mission is to provide essential food assistance through nutritious supplemental foods, alongside comprehensive nutrition education and vital referrals to healthcare and social services. We promote breastfeeding and offer ongoing support to new mothers, ensuring they have the resources they need to thrive. Importantly, WIC does not require proof of citizenship, making our services accessible to all eligible families, even those who may not currently receive Medicaid or food stamps.
