Located in Westwood, NJ, Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative (BVMI) is dedicated to providing essential primary and preventive health care services for adults aged 18 and older, prioritizing those in need through financial and medical qualification criteria. At BVMI, every new patient receives a comprehensive assessment that includes blood work for diabetes, cholesterol, thyroid function, and HIV, as well as urinalysis and vital sign checks such as blood pressure. Following the initial screening, patients are paired with a caring primary care physician who conducts a thorough physical examination and collaboratively develops a tailored treatment plan based on individual health needs. BVMI offers an array of services including physical examinations, sick visits, nutrition coaching, counseling, and referrals to specialists, alongside specialized programs for women's health, diabetes management, and chronic disease care. To access these vital services, prospective patients must provide proof of residency in Bergen County, proof of household income, and the most recent federal tax return, with appointments available for eligibility screenings.
