Alexis Menken

Dr. Alexis Menken, a licensed psychologist with a PhD, has dedicated her career to supporting women's mental health, especially during critical reproductive periods. Her work at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center involved running women's groups and training psychology interns, which seamlessly led her to develop a specialty in Maternal Mental Health. As a co-founder of The Pregnancy and Postpartum Resource Center at CPMC, she served as Assistant Professional Psychologist, contributing significantly to the field. Currently, Dr. Menken holds an influential position on the Presidents Advisory Council for Postpartum Support International and serves as the NJ Coordinator. Her commitment to addressing postpartum depression was highlighted during her membership on Governor Codey's Professional Education Committee. Additionally, she contributes to The Maternal Mortality Review for the state of NJ. With a private practice in Montclair, NJ, Dr. Menken offers expert care to women facing various disorders across their reproductive years. She has also taught a specialized Mind/Body course for infertility patients at St. Barnabas Hospital and provides the Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster Workshop for patients preparing for any type of surgery. Dr. Menken's training in Psychological First Aid at Johns Hopkins complements her extensive background. Furthermore, she is a co-editor and author of 'Perinatal and Postpartum Mood Disorders: Perspectives and Treatment Guide for the Health Care Practitioner', published by Springer in 2008.
