Dr. Shawn Ricks is a dedicated counselor and a PhD holder with over 20 years of experience, specializing in helping individuals reach their personal potential through a holistic approach that includes Hypnotherapy and Reiki. As an expert in the fields of anxiety, substance use disorders, empowerment, self-esteem, and depression—as they relate particularly to women and girls—Dr. Ricks offers a compassionate and tailored approach to each client's needs. She is skilled in using hypnotherapy for weight loss and smoking cessation, effectively addressing subconscious messages surrounding these issues. Her extensive research and training focus on the mental health of women and girls, allowing her to facilitate breakthroughs that guide clients through life experiences and internalized messages. Recognizing the uniqueness of each person she works with, Dr. Ricks provides the individualized treatment that every client deserves. Additionally, as a certified Hypnotherapist and with training in Strengthening Families, Preventing Long Term Anger and Aggression in Youth, and Motivational Interviewing through SAMHSA, her holistic techniques are grounded in years of experience. Dr. Ricks has also contributed as a leadership coach for the Women in Addictions Services Leadership Institute of SAMHSA and serves on the board of the NC Foundation of Alcohol and Drug Studies.
