Located in Mebane, NC, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship from the Allegheny Mountain Institute is dedicated to cultivating future leaders in sustainable food practices. This enriching program provides comprehensive education in organic food systems, emphasizing the importance of social, environmental, and economic justice in our food supply. Through a hands-on, six-month residential experience at our Allegheny Farm Campus, selected Fellows gain invaluable skills in growing and distributing diverse crops, leading educational initiatives in innovative health care, and fostering food literacy in schools and communities. Moreover, they actively engage in vital activities such as supporting farmers markets and creating distribution networks to enhance access to healthy foods. This Fellowship is tuition-free to ensure accessibility for all passionate individuals ready to become advocates for their communities. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October, culminating in a Community Action Year spent partnering with regional non-profits to make a tangible impact.
