The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program in Goldsboro, NC, is dedicated to enhancing the health and nutrition of pregnant women, new mothers, and young children. Through the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program, WIC offers vital resources such as nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and access to nutritious foods and healthcare services for low-income families. Our program serves pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women as well as infants and children up to age five. Certification periods vary to ensure that families receive ongoing support: breastfeeding postpartum women are certified for up to 12 months, children are recertified every six months until they turn five, and infants receive support for their first year. Non-breastfeeding postpartum women are eligible for certification for six months postpartum, while pregnant women receive assistance throughout their pregnancy and up to six weeks after delivery.
