Melissa Elder, LCSW, is a dedicated Clinical Social Worker and Therapist with a specialty practice, Deeper Roots Therapy. She focuses on somatic therapy for trauma, binge eating disorder, compulsive overeating, and bulimia, as well as related challenges like anxiety, depression, and interpersonal relationships. Melissa employs a non-diet, Intuitive Eating approach, drawing from her extensive training in mindfulness, trauma therapy, and somatic experiencing. Before establishing her private practice, she served as the supervisor for an outpatient eating disorder program in Connecticut. Currently, she is also a faculty member of the Embodied Recovery Institute, a training program for somatic therapy. Her therapeutic style emphasizes teaching clients intuitive eating and facilitating reconnection with their bodies. Melissa guides clients in regulating their nervous systems, processing trauma, and increasing their ability to be present in their bodies through somatic and trauma therapies, including Embodied Recovery, Safe and Sound Protocol, and Brainspotting.
