Patrick Charlier, an LPC Intern, has a unique perspective on therapy shaped by his own experiences. He once avoided seeking help, influenced by the cultural belief that therapy was not something Black men could pursue. However, after an eye-opening first session with a supportive Black woman therapist, Patrick recognized the toxic mindset that held him back. Now, he is dedicated to helping others, particularly Black individuals and men, who may feel uncertain about embarking on their therapeutic journeys. Patrick embraces the role of a guide, akin to Sam to Frodo, Obi-Wan to Luke Skywalker, or Hermione to Harry Potter. He sees his clients as the Main Characters in their own stories and strives to provide unwavering support throughout their healing process. Patrick believes in the transformative power of storytelling, acknowledging that everyone has personal narratives that can inspire resilience, hope, and love. By emphasizing the importance of sharing and exploring these stories, he creates a welcoming space for clients to connect and heal.
