The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Poplar Bluff, MO, nurtures a new generation of leaders dedicated to advancing a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this empowering program completely waives tuition fees to ensure accessibility for all. Participants engage in hands-on training that encompasses organic food system education, innovative healthcare initiatives, and the maintenance of school and community gardens. Fellows actively work to grow and distribute diverse crops, enhance food literacy among students, and support local food markets, all while fostering connections with regional non-profit organizations. Following six months of immersive learning at the Allegheny Farm Campus, each Fellow embarks on a impactful Community Action Year, applying their skills to broaden access to healthy food and promote community engagement throughout the region. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October.
