Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

Based in Platte City, MO, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship aims to cultivate advocates for a fair and sustainable food system through comprehensive training and hands-on experiences. This transformative program, offered by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, provides dedicated individuals with the opportunity to engage in organic food education and become active contributors to their communities. During the six-month residency at Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows learn to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement educational initiatives for health care innovation, and create or maintain school and community gardens. By integrating food and ecological literacy into educational activities and supporting local farmers markets, Fellows enhance access to healthy foods and engage in community food coalition efforts. The Fellowship emphasizes accessibility by not charging tuition, allowing more aspiring advocates to enrich their understanding and impact within the food system. Applications for the program are accepted until March, with the experience running from May to October, paving the way for a Community Action Year filled with meaningful partnerships with regional non-profits.
