The Ida Mae Patterson Center for Maternal and Infant Wellness, located in Belton, MO, is dedicated to promoting the health of African-American childbearing persons and their families through our innovative Village Circle Approach™. This model emphasizes Community-Embedded Group Prenatal Care, offering a supportive and culturally validating environment where enrolled pregnant clients receive perinatal education and clinical care in peer-focused cohorts. By prioritizing informed consent, community nurturance, and cultural affirmation, we strive to combat the effects of racism in prenatal care and elevate client autonomy and group empowerment. Our center also provides access to trained doulas who offer expert physical and emotional support during labor and birth, ensuring that every participant feels informed and confident throughout their journey to motherhood.
