The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Barnhart, MO, empowers passionate individuals to become advocates for a more just food system through hands-on learning and community engagement. This transformative program provides comprehensive organic food system education, focusing on social, environmental, and economic equity. Fellows engage in meaningful work, from cultivating diversified crops on market-style farms to facilitating health education sessions and managing community gardens. They play an active role in enhancing food access by supporting farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives, while also integrating food and ecological literacy into educational activities. Over the course of six months at the Allegheny Farm Campus, participants immerse themselves in experiential learning, followed by a Community Action Year where they collaborate with local non-profits to implement their training. With no tuition fees, the fellowship is designed to be accessible and inclusive, inviting individuals to apply by March each year for a rewarding experience from May to October.
