Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

Located in Niles, MI, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship empowers aspiring educators and advocates to champion a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this innovative Fellowship offers comprehensive, tuition-free training in organic food systems to enhance accessibility and nurture future leaders in sustainable agriculture. Throughout a six-month intensive program at the Allegheny Farm, Fellows engage in hands-on learning, collaborating on projects such as growing diversified crops, running educational health care sessions, and maintaining community gardens. The Fellowship emphasizes the integration of food and ecological literacy into educational settings, while also fostering community initiatives like farmers markets and direct-to-consumer programs. Following their training, Fellows enter a Community Action Year to apply their skills in partnership with local non-profits, making a tangible difference in the health and sustainability of food systems in the region.
